Before you know it the Pre-season is here and all that muscle power and newly found flexibility will give you a chance to shine on the golf course and impress your playing partners! Your Base Training Phase 1. and 2. has been in full swing for good couple months and all that strength work has gained you all the “street credibility” don’t forget the ever important core! Couple of basic, but functional core exercises are always good to keep in your program.
How you test if your Lower Abdominals are strong enough then?
Take your golf posture, make sure you have neutral curves, take a deep breath in and draw up your pelvic floor and on exhale draw your belly button in as much as you can and hold for 60 seconds (breathing is difficult when you do this test, so you need to figure out the way you breath higher than normal = from your chest).
Words of wisdom thou – If you can’t do this exercise I would highly recommend you to give us a call or seek help of a physiotherapist that knows how to teach lower abdominal co-ordination with the blood pressure cuff as shown on the picture above.
Good luck with the abdominal test!
