Core strength is a key element for powerful swing, improving rotation, swing speed, longer drives and a main ingredient for injury prevention!

Strong core transfers force from lower body all the way to the golf club. Ever so important club head speed depends on that vital route and linking between all those muscles from lower body, glutes, hip and core muscles (especially Obliques = rotational special forces!) to the arms.

How to tScreen Shot 2015-08-23 at 20.28.24est if your Lower Abdominals are strong enough then?

Take your golf posture, make sure you have neutral spine (just like in the picture with a pole on my back), take a deep breath in and gently activate your pelvic floor. As you exhale draw your belly button in and up toward your rib cage. Start gently and keep going, as much as you can and hold for 60 seconds. This is the test that you ether “pass or fail” there is no middle ground, sorry!

Words of wisdom thou – If you can’t do this golf fitness exercise I would highly recommend you to give us a call by filling in the “Contact Me” on top of the page, or seek help of a physiotherapist that knows how to teach lower abdominal co-ordination with the blood pressure cuff (as shown on the picture on the left).

Couple of basic, but functional core exercises are always good to keep in your golf fitness program through out the year no matter what training Phase you are on!
