After all your hard work with Base Training phase 1 where you were resetting the system after the golfing season with a variety of flexibility exercises, basic movement patterns with high repetitions, getting cardiovascular response for your body
and on the golfing side of things getting your basic technique game ready, Base Training phase 2 is knocking on the door! After all your great work you have created a solid base and you are now ready for the next step which is the biggest one if you want to hit it further! Golf is one of the most difficult sports when it comes to getting all that hard work at the gym to transform into hitting the ball further, and to be honest there is no magic pill other than to train the right way and put the effort in!
Base Training 2 involves strength training with slightly lower repetitions and heavier weights – getting you super strong! Remember that there are no short cuts for success and building a strong base is the key. If you start cutting corners and lifting heavier weights without proper Base Training 1, you are in danger of injuring yourself and in the worst case ruining your whole season. Outside the gym work you should be starting to play more and getting good at hitting a variety of shots, especially around the green, to get your short game sharp and ready to score well! The Base Training 2 season is about 6 weeks long and after this you are ready for Pre-Season Training that involves completely different kinds of tricks to transform all that strength into power!
Best of luck for your Base Training phase 2!
